Charity Golf Tournament
The Annual CBA Charity Golf Tournament is another longstanding tradition which keeps the spirit of "collegial intercourse" alive and well in the Calgary Bar!
This year's tournament was held on Friday, September 9, 2011.
Congratuations to Tony Vlastelic (low gross, male), Derek Koogle (low net, male), Jenny Kirkpatrick (low gross and net, female), Wally Shaw and Bob Hall (net best ball), Mark Morrison, Chris Christopher, Max Brunette and Michael Dixon (firm low gross), Bob Hall again (seniors low gross, and low net Judges), Joe Amantea (seniors low net), Steve Major (low net Past President), Jane Lang (female over 40 low gross), Jeffrey Wise, Wayne Barkauskas, Aaron Bickman and Brad Sinclair (scramble), and Brian Livingstone (most honest golfer). Congratulations also to the winner of the trip to Las Vegas, Krysta Ostwald!
While the performances in the Clubhouse afterwards are typically far more memorable (or for some forgettable) than those on the Course, the one certainty of the tournament is that the true spirit of comradery of the Calgary Bar always prevails.
In recent years, the CBA has returned to its "old school" roots, by returning the tournament to the prestigious and beautiful Banff Springs Golf Course. This format ensures both exceptional golf, and makes it a virtual certainty that Banff residents will be treated to the off tune warblings of some of our more senior members through the streets of Banff late through the night.
As with most CBA functions, the Charity Golf Tournament is not only a great time, but also a great way to give back to the community. Every year, funds raised by the CBA through the tournament are provided to worthwhile charities. This year, funds raised went to Fuel for School, a program designed to provide hungry elementary students with a nutritious breakfast.
Put the CBA Charity Golf Tournament in your calendar - we look forward to seeing you there!
