Stampede Whoop Up

The annual Whoop-Up Stampede Party is one of the Calgary Bar Association’s marquee events. The bash traditionally occurs on the Tuesday afternoon of Stampede week with exclusive access to one of the city’s finest watering holes (most recently the Wild Horse Saloon) and carries on long into the evening. The Whoop-Up is the best attended event of the year, attracting anywhere from 1,000 to 1,200 members and their guests to enjoy each other's company. It is events like this that set the foundation for Calgary’s well-known civility in practice! Capacity is limited, so get there early!

The 2017 Whoop Up was Tuesday, July 11, 2017. Check back for details for 2018.

CBA CHARITY GOLF TOURNAMENT

The Annual CBA Charity Golf Tournament is another longstanding tradition which keeps the spirit of "collegial intercourse" alive and well in the Calgary Bar!

While the performances in the Clubhouse afterwards have, on occasion, been more memorable (or for some forgettable) than those on the Course, the one certainty of the tournament is that the true spirit of comradery of the Calgary Bar always prevails. In recent years, the CBA has returned to its "old school" roots, by holding the tournament at the prestigious and beautiful Banff Springs Golf Course. As with most CBA functions, the Charity Golf Tournament is not only a great time, but also a great way to give back to the community. Every year, funds raised by the CBA through the tournament are provided to worthwhile charities.

The Charity Golf Tournament takes place in September of each year.
Keep checking back for details of the 2017 tournament.

AGM / Fall BASH

The Constitution of the Calgary Bar Association requires the members to meet annually in the month of November at such time and place as Council may select.  And members have been happy to comply each November since 1916.  As the years have passed, the meeting portion of the gathering has become shorter and shorter, with business now usually conducted between 4:00 and 4:02.  This leaves lots of time for socializing with colleagues at the bar, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones.

The 2017 AGM will be Thursday, November 2, 2017 at the National on 10th. Admission is free for All Calgary lawyers - Even if you didn't buy a Calgary Bar Association membership this year and includes drinks, food and bowling.  NOTE NEW LOCATION.

QC AND JUDGES' DINNER

The Calgary Bar Association proudly hosts formal dinners to celebrate Calgary QC and judicial appointments. These events are held on an alternating basis, with QC Dinners in even years and Judges' Dinners in odd. Each dinner presents an opportunity to come together as a legal community to celebrate the achievements of some of our colleagues. We might even have some fun at their expense along the way! The dinners are usually sold out, so get your tickets early. QC and Judges' Dinners are open to Calgary Bar Association members only.

Annual Curling Bonspiel

The annual curling bonspiel is focused on fun. Although there is friendly competition, and some members surprise with their "hurry hard skills", experience is not necessary! First time curlers are welcome. Costumes are not mandatory but many teams choose to take the event to a new level by dressing up.

The 2017 Curling Bonspiel was April 7, 2017. The Bonspiel is a popular event, so we encourage you to register early for 2018.
