President's Message

Welcome to the Calgary Bar Association’s newly-launched website!  This website was designed to ensure that our members have easy access to important Calgary Bar information.

  • Are you interested in the history of the Calgary Bar Association? 
  • Do you want to purchase or renew your Calgary Bar membership? 
  • Are you looking for information on upcoming events such as the Q.C./Judges Dinner, the Stampede Whoop-Up, or the Golf Tournament? 
  • Would you like to provide feedback on past events or make suggestions for potential future events?

All of these pressing questions can now be answered by simply accessing the Calgary Bar Association’s website.  Although the website is still a work in progress, we are continually working on its improvement.  Please let us know if there is something you would like to see included in the website.

As President of the Calgary Bar Association, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to meet a large number of our members at the Fall Bash/AGM held at Flames Central on November 12, 2009.  Once again, the CBA was pleased to provide a venue where members of the Calgary Bar and Bench could socialize with one other away from contentious files and courtroom battles.  We hope that our events in the upcoming year are as successful and well-received as this event. 

We already have a number of events scheduled for the upcoming year.  The Curling Bonspiel will be held February 19th, 2010 at the Glencoe Club.  The Q.C. Dinner will be held on March 18, 2010 at the Westin Hotel.  The Golf Tournament will be held on September 10, 2010 at the Banff Springs Hotel.  We will keep you posted with ticket and registration information!

The success of our Calgary Bar Association events would not be possible without the hard work and dedication of the multi-talented members of the Executive.  I would personally like to extend my thanks to the Executive members for their invaluable support:  Jo-Ann Burgess (Vice-President), Jeff Sharpe (Treasurer), Mark Morrison (Secretary), Sherry Kachur (Senior Member), Craig Steele (Member), Sean Fairhurst (Member), Jim Lutz (Junior Member), and Steve Major (Past President).
